Vinted sellers keep 100% of the sale price — but buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee ($0.70 + 5% in the US, 3-8% in the UK), and that checkout total shapes what you can charge. Model your payout and the buyer's real cost side by side.
Your Fees = $0; Buyer Protection (US) = 5% × Price + $0.70; UK range = 3–8% × Price + £0.30–0.80; Your Net = Price − Item Cost − Shipping You CoverVinted charges sellers nothing — the payout equals the sale price. The platform monetizes through the buyer-side Buyer Protection fee: a fixed 5% + $0.70 in the US and an officially variable 3-8% + £0.30-0.80 range in the UK. This calculator models both the payout and the buyer's checkout total because pricing decisions on Vinted trade one against the other.
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0% | Seller commission — no listing fees, no processing deduction |
| 5% + $0.70 | US Buyer Protection fee, charged to the buyer on the item price |
| 3–8% + £0.30–0.80 | UK Buyer Protection range per Vinted's own price list (converted to USD at ~1.35) |
| Buyer Total | Item price plus the maximum estimated buyer fee — your listing's effective checkout price |
Our calculations are based on established financial and scientific formulas. The following sources inform the default values and methodology used in this calculator:
Vinted sellers pay nothing — no listing fee, no commission, no processing deduction. The platform monetizes at checkout instead: buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee on top of the item price. In the US it is fixed at 5% of the item price plus $0.70. In the UK it is officially a range — usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80 — varying by item and order.
| Item price | US fee (5% + $0.70) | US buyer total | UK fee (typical, ≈$) | UK buyer total (≈$) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $1.20 | $11.20 | $1.29 | $11.29 |
| $30.00 | $2.20 | $32.20 | $2.39 | $32.39 |
| $60.00 | $3.70 | $63.70 | $4.04 | $64.04 |
UK column shows the typical mid-range (5.5% + £0.55) with the flat fee converted at $1.35/£; the upper end (8% + £0.80) adds roughly $0.60–$1.80 more depending on price. Shipping excluded on both.
The fee buys the Buyer Protection programme: if the item never arrives or does not match the listing, the buyer is refunded. It is charged on the item price only — not on shipping, not on taxes — and none of it is deducted from you. Your payout is the sale price in full, every time.
For a seller, the fee matters as demand-shaping context, not as a cost. It is why the calculator shows the buyer's estimated total next to your payout: a US buyer pays $32.20 for your $30 item before shipping, and that total — not your $30 — is the number they weigh against other apps where the sticker price carries the fee inside it.
Vinted's buyer fee is not the same number everywhere, and the difference is structural, not cosmetic. The US price list fixes it at 5% + $0.70 — one formula, no variance. The UK price list describes a range, "usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80", that varies by item and order and is shown to each buyer at checkout. Planning around a fixed number and planning around a band are different exercises.
In the US, the buyer premium is knowable to the cent before you list: on a $25 item, always $1.95, always a $26.95 checkout. In the UK, the same item listed at £25 could cost the buyer anywhere from £26.05 to £27.80 across the range (3% + £0.30 to 8% + £0.80) — and since you cannot see which end applies, the calculator shows typical and upper-end figures rather than pretending to one. The UK fees are quoted in pounds — the dollar equivalents in the calculator use an approximate $1.35/£ conversion for comparability — but your actual economics in the UK are the pounds, not the conversion.
What does not change between markets: your 100% payout, the fee landing on the item price only, and the strategic conclusion — price the listing, let the platform price the protection. Use the marketplace selector at the top of the calculator to switch models and watch the buyer-side readouts re-shape.
A 100% payout removes the fee calculation from your side and moves all the friction to the buyer's checkout — so the pricing skill on Vinted is understanding how that checkout behaves. Three patterns matter.
First, the fixed component is regressive in miniature. The 5% part scales, but the $0.70 does not — on a $5 item the fee is $0.95, a 19% premium on the sticker price; on a $50 item it is $3.20, just 6.4%. Cheap items feel more expensive at checkout than their price suggests, which is exactly the pattern Poshmark's flat $2.95 produces at full scale.
| Item price | US buyer fee | Fee as % of item |
|---|---|---|
| $5.00 | $0.95 | 19.0% |
| $10.00 | $1.20 | 12.0% |
| $20.00 | $1.70 | 8.5% |
| $50.00 | $3.20 | 6.4% |

Second, buyers filter on the item price, not the checkout total. A buyer capping their search at $20 sees your $20.00 listing and never sees a $20.50 one — even though the fee makes both checkouts nearly identical and your payout difference is fifty cents. Landing on the round number is worth more on Vinted than the half-dollar you give up to get there.
Third, because your payout is the full price, every discount you offer is a real dollar-for-dollar cost with no platform fee savings to soften it — the opposite of percentage-fee apps where a discount also shrinks the commission. Discount deliberately and late, and check the buyer-total readout first: on an item already checkout-expensive, a $1 price cut moves the buyer's total by exactly $1, which is the cheapest conversion lever you have.
