How is mortar volume estimated?

The mortar volume is computed by taking the total volume of the wall, subtracting the pure volume occupied by all the bricks, and adjusting for mixing shrinkage and wastage.

A standard modular brick (240×115×53mm with 10mm mortar joints) requires approximately 50 to 60 bricks per square meter of single-skin wall. Double-skin walls need twice that amount. Always add a 5% wastage margin for breakage and cuts.
